[INTERVIEW] ☆ Ikemen Princes’ K - Pop group NU’EST major debut in Japan! ☆

NU'EST

On March 15 2012 , NU’EST debuted in Korea. The group name was created by taking the initials of New (NU) · Establish (Establish) · Style (Style) · Tempo, which means “to make a new style according to music”. The members are JR , Baekho, Aron, Ren and Minhyun . ’ On November 5 2014 , they debut in Japan with the single “Shalala Ring”, and further leap is expected in the future.

Q. On November 5, you finally debut in Japan!

Baekho: We have been working in Japan even before we debuted in Japan. I am very happy because I wanted to make an official debut as soon as possible. If I’m going to meet the fans, I’d like to tell you “Thanks to you, I debuted in Japan. Thank you.”

Aron: I am very happy to be able to debut in Japan. I think that it’s also wonderful to see the Japanese fans frequently from now on. I would like to convey my gratitude to everyone who has been waiting for us for a long time “Thank you”.

Ren : I had a lot of fun in Japan, so I wanted to debut as soon as possible. I am very happy and I’m thrilled. When I meet our fans, I’d like to tell you that I love you.

JR : I am very happy about our japanese debut, but I also have my worried. Whether it’s about if we can work well in front of the Japanese fans or if we can respond to your feelings … ?. But, since I’d like to try harder than worrying about that, please watch over me warmly. Now I can only say the words “Thank you”.

Minhyun: I’m very happy. From now on, I would like to inform people who don’t know us about NU'EST through activities in Japan . To fans, I’d like to say “Thank you, I’d like to make nice memories from now on”.

Q. There are various activities you had in Japan before the debut, what is the most impressive one that you remember?

Baekho: What I remember most is the summer festival. It was a project that was perfect for us who wanted waited a long time to get “in touch with fans.” Maybe the other members feel the same as me. While watching the faces of each person, I was able to play games and share stories at a really close distance with the fans.

Minhyun : I was at the official press conference in Japan. It’s the first place to officially announce our official Japanese debut, so I still can remember it strongly. Many fans came up to celebrate the debut, and a lot of the media came to interview. At that time, I was very nervous and I could not say everything about what I prepared. It was a mystery, but it was a very meaningful situation as it was the 1st step to start our official activities in Japan.

Q. What kind of song is the debut song “Shalala Ring”?

JR : This song is about the feeling that "I want to protect people like me so that they can smile forever”. It’s a warm song, so it’s perfect for the cold winter.

Baekho: The dance is very easy. JR , please tell about it.

JR : Please put your little finger forward and shake it sideways.

Minhyun : It’s so easy, please dance with us!

Q. What part of the lyrics do you like the most?

Baekho: I like “Shalala Ring” the most. Because we also received a Shalala Ring as a gift. It’s very cute.

Aron : The Bridge part, where I narrate in English. It’s very sexy.

Ren : There’s the narration at the beginning that says “Isn’t it cold? It’s alright. Hey,now come close to me.“ In the content of a propose, it’s a very sweet phrase. It is my part, but listening to that part makes me feel better.

JR : I like my part "The autumn evening is breaking a happy smile”. The lyrics contain the words “evening”, “smile” and “happiness”. I like this feeling it gives as it’s like a poem.

Minhyun : The part called “The throbbing is alight”. I express this throbbing of a heart with a feeling of breaking out in freedom. I think that it expresses the feeling of having a crush uniquely.

Q. What kind of difficulties did you face during this recording, did you do your best anyways?

Minhyun : It’s a song that makes it feel like winter, but it was midsummy when we actually recorded. Because it’s a song with expressing warmth, while it’s winter, I wonder what emotions should I express? I was confused (laughs)

Q. Is there an episode during MV shooting?

Baekho : We each made a proposal in a different way. It was my first time and the shooting itself was a lot of fun. I made a proposal in a costume, but I thought that I had to act pretty, and I was worried “Oh, what should I do?”. But when I actually wore it, I could do anything because I wasn’t able see anything in front of me! (laughs). I think that I was able to shoot in a funny way.

Minhyun : We spent the long time of 24 hours shooting, and I put my soul in it. There are also proposal scenes that make use of the personality of us five, so I would like to have many people to watch it.

Q. Aron whose special skill is english! Please give me us a message in English.

Aron: Thank you guys reading this interview. I hope you guys enjoy it and look forward to more answers and questions by us. Thank you guys.

Q. Does JR has any special skills besides gaming?

Baekho: And If not? (laughs)

JR: Because I am singer and I don’t have any (special skills other than games), it’s strange, isn’t it? However, it is like this. What should I do? Anyway, I am very good at games.

Q. How about an episode about gaming?

JR : For the first time in the summer festival I played the card game “Mackerel”, but I won the whole game. That is good. I am good at it.

Aron : I understand.

JR : The game is good!

Q. Ren changed his long blonde hair to black hair, what is the reason for that? Also please tell me your special skill.

Ren : I am just me. Please just think of my blond hair as an another part of myself. Especially, as there is no reason to change the hairstyle, but since I turned 20 years old, and I kept my blond hair for a long time already, so I changed my mind to show another image of myself. And what are special skills …?

Baekho: Special skills? Things you are good at doing!

JR : Closing the door quickly!

Ren : Am I fast closing the door?

Baekho : I can close it faster ( laughs) .

JR : I can close it faster than anyone else.

Q. Minhyun is said to be the mother of the group, but what kind of part of you makes you a mother?

Minhyun : I live a communal life and I often nag at the members. I don’t cook but I will clean for the group. So, I think that it can be said to be a mother presence.

Baekho : Then, wash up.

Minhyun : Oh, that’s right. I don’t know why, but I remember washing the members’ clothes and underwear only once, so when laundry was dry, I delivered it to each of the rooms separately.

Q. Baekho is said to be a trouble maker, but what kind of part of you is a troublemaker? Also, it seems that Kendo is your special skill, but at around which age did you started?

Baekho: I’m a bit mischief and when everyone in the group is nice, it’s not good isn’t it? I think that it’s necessary for a child to rebel and play around, so I am the one who plays this role. And about Kendo I’m really good at it.

JR : How old were you when you started? Baekho: I began when I was 8 years old (Korean age). I have been the number one in the world tournament. If you watch the korean debut teaser video, you can see me positively posing.

NU’EST confess their love to each others : Who would you confess to, if the others were girls?

Minhyun: If it would be a member, then Baekho…

JR : I thought it was going to be Baekho!

Minhyun: Because his appearance is good, but it’s not the only reason. Baekho likes to eat, so always eating out together seems to be fun when dating. I would confessing by saying “I will become your iron man”

◆JR

JR：I’d choose Baekho too! It’s not because he’s cute but he seems to be good at cooking, so if you are with me, I will always be able to eat delicious food.

Baekho: If you take me, you won’t be beaten up by anyone.

JR : It’s a love confession, isn’t it? To be honest, I think that I would say, “ I like you, would you go out with me?

Ren: I choose Minhyun. It’s because he’s very dependable and will care of me carefully. I will confess with "Fill my empty space”

◆Aron

Aron：I think I’ll confess to myself. Because I’m handsome. If I would confess my love, I think I’d simple say “Would you be my girlfriend?”

◆Baekho

Baekho: I choose Ren. I prefer a woman with long hair but I can’t imagine long hair on anyone of the members other than Ren.

Minhyun: I also wore woman clothes before.

Baekho: Not like this…..

MinHyun: Was it awful?

Baekho: Yes. Then, wouldn’t it be fun If I were with Ren from now on?
