Q. Which member left the strongest impression, when you first met?

Aron: Minhyun. When I first met each of the members, I thought “Ah! Cool!” “Oh, this person is also good!” … except for Minhyun (haha). Minhyun was truly a buzz.

Minhyun: I think so too (laughs) My face has changed a little as I grew up, now it’s the case that I got cool.

Aron: But, everyone feels pretty strange. Perhaps, the person whose face has not changed the most is JR . JR is really the same as when he was a trainee. I wonder if I became a little ugly … (tears)

Baekho

Q. Which member left the strongest impression, when you first met?

Baekho: It’s JR. I’m from Jeju Island, and as I got off to the airport (Seoul) where I got scouted and then headed to the office. I got told “If you go to the practice room, a good looking trainee with good dancing skills awaits you”. That was JR . But, when I actually met you, it was like “What’s with that dude …” (laugh).

JR: I think I would have thought so too when I saw myself at that time (laughs)

Baekho: The skin was black ..

JR: It was rather yellow and dull than black. By now, it has turned white.

Q. Do you remember the first time you met the NU’EST members?

Ren: The first member I met was JR. At that time, I had an appointment at our company. The staff told me “JR? He’s a good boy, he’s handsome, you’ll be surprised” and I was so excited like “Really?” When I entered the room, a boy with tanned skin was showing his face from the top bunk bed. I thought “Who is this? He might be the JR who was mentioned by the staff…“ Honestly I was so disappointed (laughs). At first I thought “Is he really that good and handsome looking?” but gradually getting to know him, he’s really like what they’ve told me.

Lovely prince, handsome prince, naughty prince…Each 5 NU’EST members have their own charms. This time, we will reveal the member’s real personality! And the 4th member is Leader JR.

JR

Birthday: 1995.06.08

Height: 178cm

Observantive Ikemen (handsome) Leader. Loves games and animes. Makes fans go crazy with his overflowing charisma on stage and his puppy like fluffyness off stage.

 Q. What were you like during your childhood?

I feel like, I was smarter when I was young. I probably should say, I was “reading the air” (T/N: japanese acronym for someone who has difficulty reading social situations) in the past. I wanted to get praised alot, and become a gentle person. So I did gave my best at all various things.

Q. Why did you decide to become a singer?

Although I didn’t had the dream of becoming a singer from the very beginning, I became a trainee after being scouted at school. The dream of becoming a singer developed little by little since the 1st day of practice.

Q. When was the moment when you wanted to become a singer?

The 1st time ever I desired to become a singer was when I went to watch other artist’s performances. It was so cool to see them being happily enjoying the performances, and even just standing on the stage was cool. So I thought “I want to be like them as well”.

Q. Who of the members left the strongest impressions on the 1st meeting?

Ren and Baekho. I was the first trainee. At that time, there were no male trainees at our company other than myself. All others were women. It felt like I had no friends, but then Ren and Baekho were the next male trainees who came in after me and rather than having a strong impression of them it’s more a memorable feeling.

Q. What’s the most memorable episode since your debut?

It was before debut….When we were trainees, still practicing for debut, us five weren’t able to return to our parents’ house during Chinese New Year. In general, although we don’t have days off during the New Year’s holidays, we really practiced every day except for the 1st day of Chinese New Year. Everyone of our company went home, and only the five of us remained. I can remember the most of that time. Even though we were practicing so hard every single day, to be honest it was pretty lonely while only us five were left behind when all the others went back home.

Q. Have you ever thought about giving up the dream of being a singer?

I was on my way to South America for work, while my mom underwent surgery. Since it took us almost one day by plane from korea, it it was a situation where I couldn’t get the result of the surgery. Several hours after my mom was informed that she had to undergo surgery, I had to take the airplane. At that time it was the hardest time ever for me, and I thought, “Just when it’s tough for my mom , I can’t afford to be beside her …”. Oh, my mom is fine now!

Q. Conversely, what was the happiest moment for you?

It was when my fans celebrated my birthday for the 1st time. Originally I didn’t really celebrated my birthdays and I’m not the type of guy who let everyone know about my birthday. So I felt like it was such a nice thing to have a birthday party for myself. That time I was the happiest I'ver ever been.

Q. Is there any artist you look up to?

Because I’m doing hip-hop, I’m often listening to songs of hip-hop artists’ . The one I like the most is the a korean rapper called DOK2. Up till now I’m still listening to his songs.

Q. What are you hooked on these days?

Anime! I watched it many times yesterday. I’m crazy about Anime right now.

Q. Where do you always go to when you come to Japan?

Convenience store (laughs). There are many interesting things which aren’t available in Korea. I like 감자찜 (steamed sweet potatoes) the best, and japanese steamed potatoes and cookies in convenience stores are my favorites.

Q. What’s your favorite fashion style?

I used to wear comfortable clothes before, but I feel stylish these days. After dying my hair blond, I especially pay attention to clothes now. Casual clothes are going well with black hair, but with a colorful hair color the clothes need to be coordinated accordingly to it.

Q. In what TV program do you want to appear?

“Running man”. I’d like to appear in it, because it seems so fun just by watching!

Q. What kind of artist would you like to be in the future?

My goal is to be an idol, who can produce songs as well. If I make songs by myself, I can put my honest feelings in it and I think that it will be easier to convey those feelings to those who listen to it.
