It was a glorious return home for Kim Jong Hyun, ‘The Son of Gangneung,’ as the “Night Goblin”s set Gangneung as their next stop.
During the episode of JTBC’s “Night Goblin” that aired on September 17, Lee Soo Geun, Jung Hyung Dong, Park Sung Gwang, and Lee Hong Ki traveled with Kim Jong Hyun to his hometown of Gangneung. Though their show is called “Night Goblin,” the cast stood in line for an hour during the afternoon to enter a restaurant specializing in cockles that opens at 5 p.m. Once 5 p.m. hit, the Night Goblins were the first to enter the restaurant. They ordered the establishment’s signature dishes, seasoned cockles and beef tartare. As they waited for their food to come out, the cast enjoyed the prepared side dishes that included seaweed soup and sausages. The main dishes were served up soon, and they were enough to leave the cast members in awe. Kim Jong Hyun happily said, “There’s more cockles than rice in this,” while Lee Soo Geun and Jung Hyung Don couldn’t help but gape at their food as they said, “This is insane.” Lee Hong Ki and Park Sung Gwang were busy taking photos. After eating “The best food we’ve had so far,” the “Night Goblin” cast divided into two teams. Jung Hyung Don, Park Sung Gwang, and Lee Hong Ki went on the search for vending machine coffee that people are said to stand in line for. They visited different vending machines to enjoy different flavored coffee. Lee Soo Geun and Kim Jong Hyun headed to the Central Market, which holds a lot of memories for Kim Jong Hyun as his parents ran a snack shop there called “Jong Hyun Snacks” when he was younger. He had an excited expression on his face as the familiar scenery reminded him of his childhood memories. After getting a taste of ice cream hoddeok, the two went on the search for “Jong Hyun Snacks.” Around the sign that still had traces of the original store name were women who remembered Kim Jong Hyun. He also took a meaningful photo with the old snack shop in the background. The five members then gathered at Anmok Beach. Meeting at the cafe that Korea’s first barista runs, the members were tasked with buying coffee without being recognized. Chosen to take on the mission, Kim Jong Hyun wore a school uniform and managed to succeed. However, things were different for Lee Soo Geun. He wandered around the cafe with a long-haired wig on his head. Thanks to him, the cafe guests burst into laughter, and they were joined by viewers who laughed at Lee Soo Geun’s antics.
